Marianne Verbuyt
UWS USA Trustee
Marianne has taught and tutored for over 20 years in Paris and New York, coaching and mentoring children and teenagers in French, mathematics, and study skills.
She developed her passion for pedagogy at École Decroly in Brussels before teaching at École Alsacienne in Paris. She later taught physiotherapy and pedagogical re-education to students with disabling injuries, chronic illnesses, and congenital disabilities at Votre École Chez Vous in Paris, and has consulted for schools on best practices for educating children with special needs.
Marianne holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Université de Toulouse Le Mirail, and additional university studies in mathematics and epistemology. She also studied business management at the École Supérieure des Dirigeants d’Entreprises (ESDE) in Paris, earned a degree as Professeur des Écoles (elementary education), and holds certification to work with children with special needs. In Paris, she served on a jury for teacher accreditation and is a certified DELF (Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française) examiner.
After moving to New York, Marianne became Elementary School Coordinator at the Lycée Français de New York, a role she held for six years. She subsequently co-founded Marianne’s Alpha Kappa, a private coaching and tutoring firm supporting both students and teachers. Praised for her ability to build bridges between languages and cultures, Marianne decided to publish her teaching methods for broader national and international implementation.
